Coronavirus days: tag, I'm it

PXL_20220413_094044942 I have finally been zapped. As far as I know, for the first time. As a 58-year-old male in good physical condition who has been Double-Vaxxed and Boosted, I feel no fear and indeed feel little in the way of ill effects: just an irritating sore throat and cough.

However the test means I am working from home to protect my co-workers, and not attending the Works Easter Do (postponed from the Christmas Do) this evening, which is regrettable. I am doubtful that my co-workers require any protection, any more than I do from them; anyone Vulnerable won't be in the office anyway. The official NHS advice that I find does recommend staying at home, but doesn't insist on it.

As it happened I went back to the Old Place yesterday, but didn't interact with anyone.

Update: two days later, still it, but more faintly. Cough much better, barely there.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Thanks. Like I say, medically it is no big thing but it sure gets in the way of other stuff.

Me too, and wife. Best of luck to you and your family.

Wife ended up in ICU for a couple of nights. Note that much of risk seems to be delayed about two weeks from first testing positive.

My only lasting side effect has been kippered herring no longer smells good. Some people around me seem to think that this is a gain.

Get better soon. While you're bed-ridden you have no excuse for not posting more!

But get better soon.

@Phil: best wishes to you and yours, too. So far continuing mild. @Tom: I'll see what I can do.

The week after the first week is the one to worry about.

Article doesn't mention heart attacks and strokes, but the risk of these seems to be much higher.

Unfortunately, sort of, I've no idea when I first got it. The symptoms were so mild - sore throat / cough - that it could have been a week. So it could be any time when I'm through. Next test tomorrow. On the plus side, I ran 4k yesterday in under 20 mins which for me now is quite decent.

Read the article. The risk is just starting.

Immune system over-reaction after infection is over seems to be the main threat from COVID19.

Good news is you are vaccinated, and most of the virus now in circulation seems to be less deadly Omicron.
